Knitting

Knitting itself has an ancient and fascinating history, although it's origins are difficult to trace because textiles perish with passing of time and very few early pieces have been found intact.

'True' knitting is, in fact, the process of making a continuous looped fabric from a length of yarn and two or more eyeless needles.

Crochet

The word 'crochet' comes from the French croc meaning a hook. Like most textiles, it's origins are difficult to trace and few samples of early crochet remain.

It is formed like knitting, into a looped fabric from one continuous length of yarn. But whereas knitting uses 2 or more needles, crochet uses only one hook on which one stitch is worked at a time.
